Jesus vs. Politics
63Its not uncommon to be part of a conversation regarding politics and get onto the topic of "separation of church and state." It's almost cliched now. How many people actually understand the concept?
The issue stems back all the way to the beginning of time where the shamans were the ones whispering in the chief's ear and reining in the leaders with threats of divine retribution. Those caveman days have long since gone by but this phenomenon is far from gone.
Americans, for the most part, pride themselves on the separation in their country. True, we are making strides but I can point out some exceptions.
Abortion, Euthenasia, Death Penalty, Gay and Lesbian marriage, they all have one thing in common. On both sides of each issue there are people who are voting based on beliefs. They believe one way or another that they should control these actions among other people in the country. Both sides are using the government to force their beliefs on others.
Hello! Where did "Separation of Church and State" go?
Government should not be about control. Government must be first and foremost to protect those who it has jurisdiction over. Government which controls is tyranny. Government which protects is justice.
Even if there is no church on one side, forcing beliefs is just as unethical as any Crusade.
Now you should no where I, yes me, am coming from. I am pro-life and I believe that killing a fetus/infant is unethical and immoral but the point I'm making here is that beliefs should not affect government. But as for protection, a woman should have protection from an unwanted pregnancy... so should the infant. Woman can be free from an unwanted pregnancy WITHOUT killing their offspring. Both parties live and this policy protects both mother and child. Protection!!!! If the government supported foster homes and youth programs with the kind of money that they fund abortion clinics we'd have the better results: happier mothers, living children.
But lets not get hypocritical and force all of this on the government. If pro-life supporters spend their lives for their lobbying why can't they spend their lives solving the problem and not the law legalizing the problem.
I call on all of those of similar beliefs, the pro-life community to change people's hearts, not people's laws. If you can protest a clinic, you can take in and make a child feel wanted in this world.
This post is already getting too long. I'll finish with the other issues later.
